MazelFreten

A powerful debut by one of the most exciting forces on France’s new dance scene — fresh from the Paris 2024 Olympic Games Opening Ceremony. Formed in 2016 by Brandon Masele and Laura Defretin, MazelFreten emerged from the urban dance battle scene with a clear vision: to bring electro and hip-hop to the stage, without losing their raw energy or cultural roots. Co-produced by the Ballet National de Marseille under the direction of (LA)HORDE, Rave Lucid is the collective’s third work and a full-throttle dive into electro dance — a style born in early 2000s Parisian clubs and later amplified by the internet across Europe. Fast, sharp and intensely rhythmic, electro is built on graphic arm movements, crisp footwork and a deep sync with the pulse of electronic music.
