Ballet Preljocaj
HELIKOPTER/LICHT
Italian Premiere
https://www.nuovimecenati.org/A unique double bill brings together one of Angelin Preljocaj’s landmark choreographies, set to Stockhausen’s groundbreaking Helikopter-Quartett, and the acclaimed new creation by the master of French dance. In 1996, Karlheinz Stockhausen, a pioneer of electronic music and a central figure in the musical avant-garde, composed Helikopter-Quartett, a revolutionary piece for string quartet and four helicopters. The sound of the rotors blends with the instruments, producing a radically new kind of sonic experience. Five years later, inspired by this composition, Preljocaj created HELIKOPTER, one of his most iconic works. Six dancers bring the music’s energy and momentum to life on stage in a performance that is powerful, fast-paced and charged with intensity. Presented as an Italian premiere at Bolzano Danza, the evening also features LICHT, Preljocaj’s latest creation for 2025. Bright and full of energy, LICHT is a tribute to the power of music and dance, set to an original score by Laurent Garnier, one of the pioneers of electronic dance music and a contemporary heir to Stockhausen’s legacy.
With the support of the Fondazione Nuovi Mecenati – the Franco-Italian foundation for contemporary creation.
