Simone Lorenzo Benini & Miriam Budzákova

(e poi entrarono I cinghiali) was born from a need and an inner search within the dampest interstices of the self. A research aimed at contacting the wildest and most instinctual part of our being, bringing it into dialogue with the domestic. Through this process, energies and impulses are given a voice and the possibility to emerge and connect with the outside world. The constant pursuit of the unexpected, the creation of a state of tension and anticipation intertwine with a love for excess, which often manifests in its totality during the performance — giving rise to moments of shared, hysterical release, balancing between an exploration of the magma-like, moist ambiguity of being and a liberating, ironic lightness. The stage act becomes a celebration of ambiguity, multiplicity, vital force, liberation, connection, and involvement. Simone Lorenzo Benini, an Italo-Austrian artist, with the collaboration of Miriam Budzáková, develops his choreographic practice through somatic techniques, stream-of-consciousness writing, eye contact, and the use of gaze as a tool for exploration. The project was conceived in the autumn of 2023 and later developed through a series of residencies between Slovakia and Italy. It was selected for the Vetrina della giovane danza d’autore eXtra of the Anticorpi XL network, Italy’s leading platform dedicated to emerging contemporary choreography.
