COMPAGNIE DIFÉ KAKO – CHOR. CHANTAL LOÏAL – FROM BOLZANO TO POINTE-À-PITRE – Premiere
A performance featuring Afro-Caribbean dances led by Chantal Loïal and her dancers, as well as participants from the “Tanz Bozen” workshops, accompanied by live music — this event is all about participation and serves as an open invitation for everyone to dance. A joyful and festive moment to close out the ExtraDanza day.
Since 1995, the dance company Difé Kako has drawn its inspiration from African and West Indian cultures. Chantal Loïal has made it her mission to create a choreographic language based on the fusion of African and West Indian dances, along with a repertoire of both traditional and contemporary music. Difé Kako is made up of dancers with multidisciplinary training (classical dance, modern dance, jazz dance, traditional dances from West and Central Africa, the Maghreb, as well as from Guadeloupe and Martinique) and musicians skilled in a variety of instruments, especially percussion (djembe, dunun, ka drums, maracas, cha-cha, balafon, ti-bwa, steelpan), but also accordion and bass guitar. Always in search of innovation and artistic diversity, the company has developed a range of educational and choreographic concepts to bring this interdisciplinary dance form closer to the public.
