Fear of the Dark takes place in a real World War II bunker beneath the streets of Bolzano, and the darkness isn’t a metaphor — it’s the medium. Milan-based collective Cult of Magic builds their new work around a simple but vertiginous premise: when sight is removed, what fills the space? Inspired by Jungian psychology and the esoteric tradition of The Key of Solomon, the piece follows three dancers through a landscape drawn from dream logic rather than narrative. There are no linear stories here, no reassuring arcs. Just presence, sound, and the particular quality of attention that darkness demands. Previewed at this year’s festival before its full premiere. Two performances per evening — capacity is limited and the space is unlike anything else on the program.
